Gull Chicks

I popped down to the harbour yesterday to see how the gull chicks I photographed last week are getting on. With my longest lens combination I can see that there are in fact three chicks, not just the two I showed last time. They are beginning to lose their furry feathers and patches of more clearly defined mottled brown feathers can be seen. Mother seems to sleep most the time whilst I am hoping Dad will pop back to feed the chicks so we can see a bit more action.

I am also following the progress a of a family of shags on a nearby rock pinnacle but it is rare that you can get a reasonable shots as their beaks are poking out in all directions. I thinking of coining a new phrase for a group of shags - a cacophony.
