An empty shell

This tiny shell that I found in my garden is only about a centimetre across. One of the things I like about photography is seeing the beauty in everyday things.  Not only is the shell beautiful, it is amazing.  As someone with an interest in mathematics, I was pleased I came across this quote to share on the subject by Joseph Gordon-Levitt:

'The spiral in a snail's shell is the same mathematically as the spiral in the Milky Way galaxy, and it's also the same mathematically as the spirals in our DNA.  It's the same ratio that you'll find in very basic music that transcends cultures all over the world.'
