A slight blockage in the High Street

Why it is so quiet my end of the street.  Our workers dug a big hole yesterday, and today there is no sign of them.  The hole can stay as long as it likes - no traffic, and I'm not going anywhere.  And I'm sure yesterday's painter is enjoying his safer environment.
