Boudinage

We began our geology in ernest, crossing Mainland East to West to observe the Walls Boundary Fault and Nesting Fault.

This is an example of a Boudin, where a quartz vein has been stretched and broken into pieces then surrounding rock (calcareous, in this case) flowing into the spaces, giving the appearance of a string of sausages. This indicates and area of strong deformation.
