Freedom Tower, New York

New York - Day 1
Today I worked a trip to Newark, New Jersey, and unusually, we got to stay in Manhattan.  This is the view from my hotel room - the World Trade Center's new 'Freedom Tower'.  This newly opened building, also known as 1 World Trade Center or 1 WTC, is part of the World Trade Center complex and shares the name of the North Tower of the WTC, destroyed in the September 11th terrorist attacks.  The building is the tallest skyscraper in the western hemisphere and 4th tallest in the world.

Construction began in April 2006 and the building was opened in November 2014.  A couple of months ago the Observatory on the 102nd floor was opened to the public.  I plan to go up tomorrow.
