Blue skies and the monuments of Florence are at their sparkling best.

This was taken in the Piazza della Signoria - which has been described (in my guidebook) as a unique outdoor sculpture gallery. You will see a copy of the famous Michaelangelo David. The real thing is in the Accademia but the statue originally was in this location.

The reason I've chosen Florence at this time is that I managed to get a ticket for Maxim Vengerov both playing and conducting at the first concert this evening of the Tuscan Sun Festival.

I need a rest for now though. Its been a marvellous day so far.
