Reshaping the holiday
A day at home sorting camping kit and researching Highland-weather-proof tents (they exist - at a price). Also reshaped some camp kitchen utensils - very therapeutic.
Highlights of the last few days: Black Isle wildlife (red kite; pine marten; bottle-nosed dolphin - one of which we didn't risk rendering roadkill); Cromarty; loads of untalented photo opportunities for a different trip; the whole camping thing.
Downside: the weather. It's been a rotten summer so far. Tentage: needs improvement, but to be fair the thing we have was a tentative (ho ho) buy four years ago and we've had good value from it, even if it's not up to strong winds. Having to leave Durness before really arriving: we'll be back, either better equipped or in some sort of fixed structure.
Discovery of the week: camping at John O'Groats is not "wild camping only"; proof that not everything on the internet is true.
But then we all knew that ...
