It's Definitely Summer

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks suspiciously like a real (as opposed to "pretend") wasp helping itself to some nectar...

I spotted it this evening among the bees buzzing around the flowers on this shrub growing in the churchyard of St. Mary's Church, Hawridge.  It had a couple of chums alongside it too.  St. Mary's is believed to have hosted the shortest ever service a couple of months ago.  It was intended to be just ten minutes long, but the Rector overran by two minutes on the day.
