down by the water

once again...

days later, as seems to be the way of it at the moment, it strikes me that this is something that i recognise...that so many sunsets passed the figure has been me, sitting in wonderment at the unique beauty of each falling sun as it reflects and colours the waters...and i think of the sunset point by the holy lake in pushkar, the ragged distortions which memory swiftly installs becoming a mantra....the golf course at vaul on tiree where summer sun bled nightly upon the cuillin...dipping beyond the horizon as we sat reading through midnight at durness or drifting through the chinese nets at fort cochin....anywhere with water...the sunset point where we gather in some weird ceremony as internalised now as it was when our forefathers gathered under their sun and in the brightened dimming of the sunlight dreamed the night to come....
