That can't be comfortable

Another day another fox shot I'm afraid. If you look carefully you can just make out the tip of a protruding tongue, so not only was it in danger of waking up with a stiff neck but also with a mouth like an old garage roof!

The light had got awful by the time I took today's extra shot but I've included it as It struck me as rather comical. Dumb and Dumber are a pair of juvenile magpies who often hang around behind the flats and seem to spend more time chasing one another and fighting over scraps than they do eating. I was amazed to see them picking up twigs and bouncing around right next to the fox - it's as though they fail to recognise him as a potential threat and he fails to recognise them as a potential snack. Perhaps being part of the urban scavengers union has led them to put aside all those years of hardwired behaviour.

For some bigger but equally sleepy mammals you might want to check out my shot from this time last year
