Castell-y-Bere and Bird Rock
Friday was a very hot and sunny day. We decided to go for a walk from the campsite next to the railway to watch and photograph the little trains in the countryside. We had to paddle across a ford which was quite deep and didn't have any stepping stones, and we had to hack through some pretty lush undergrowth before we gave up and retreated to the station next to the campsite.
We spent most of the afternoon at the really quaint station halt which had lovely shade cast by the trees. See the extra picture.
In the evening I took a ride out to Castell-y-Bere which was a ruined castle in a hidden valley near Abergynolwyn. This was an unusual castle as it wasn't built by the 'English' Normans to subdue the locals, but it was a built by Llywelyn the Great.
I like this view of the ruins with the distinctive shape of Bird Rock in the distance, and the lovely evening sky above
