Muttley's Musings

Divine Driver

It was a pretty wet day all day after such a lovely weekend. We went to Tywyn for lunch then braved the weather to visit Dolgoch waterfalls in the drizzly rain.

We arrived just as train was arriving in the station at Dolgoch Falls, so I got set for a picture of the train leaving the station in crossing the bridge.

After the train had departed we walked up to the station to have a look around before heading to the waterfalls. The station master told us that the train was being driven by the Archbishop of Wales who was having a driving experience day. Further more the entire train was being staffed by railway volunteers who were either clergy or retired clergy.

I thought that this was very apt as the author of the Thomas the Tank Engine books was the Reverend W Awdry, who had a connection with this railway and his family became volunteers, and he actually wrote some books featuring the engines from this line.
