Every Picture ..........
Gotta be quick: G's sister, fiancé and son are coming for tea in less than an hour, and I have spent the entire day (well, from 10.30 am and it is now 6.30pm) going through old photos. And, most particularly, old photobooth photos.
I blame my daughter, Mrs Family Dog (who sadly seems to have given up on Blip, after getting me hooked). Anyway, she put a little snippet on Facebook, with a photo-booth picture of the two of us when she was just a little girl, and linked a song that we used to like dancing to (Leo Sayer - 'You Make me Feel Like Dancin').
It got me thinking that I'd return the favour, by putting up an old booth photo too. I never had a camera when she was wee so used to take her into the booth in Woolies from time to time, so we could have a snap together. Most of my other photographs from her childhood were taken by other people, and given to us.
When I started to go through the box of these little ones, I realised there is a whole new project here for me. So I started photographing them all, with the aim of sharing them with long lost friends, via Facebook. But I'm also going to be able to make copies of the ordinary snaps that were donated to me, and then share them too. And at the same time I can have another ramble down my favourite lane.
It's a big job - but I'm so looking forward to it.
In this little collage, starting with the top left of the square: me and Susan Fenwick, aged 15, in 4th year at Perth Academy. Then it's me and Maria, aged 16, both recently left school, and ready for adventure. Next is Anne, and we are about 17 or 18, before she was married and settled down we were a pair of barefoot flower children! Not easy in Perth, I can tell you.
2nd row, left to right: Kate F and I, both young mothers of 20. Our wee girls, Abi and Rachael were probably asleep in their buggies outside the booth. Me and Maria again, she was a Mum by then too. Abi and I, when she was about 4, and then on the bottom row when she was about 6, eating chocolate ice-cream.
Last 2 are me, my sister and our friend, showing off our perms on a night out, and then one taken for a passport photo 20 years ago, just before G and I started seeing each other.
Oh boy, I have so enjoyed today, and can't wait to share them with all my friends. Sadly poor Susan passed away a few years back, but everyone else is still contactable and it's a great excuse to organise a get together to see if they have any too.
Happy weekend everybody, hope your Saturday has been as much fun as mine.
