Mystery mouse

I took an early morning walk, before it got too hot, from Durfort to Soreze along the Haut Chemin.  On the way back, I glimpsed what I thought was a leaf wobbling in a non-existent breeze.  A closer look revealed it was a mouse pup, about two inches long and with eyes still shut, in the middle of the road.  It didn't move when prodded, so I carefully picked it up with a leaf and a twig and put it in the leaf litter at the side of the road.  Hopefully its mum came back for it.
