The carrots are escaping!

We planted a whole load of carrots last year that didn't do a lot of anything. Suddenly we found a massive patch of them today in a corner of the garden - where the squirrels or birds had taken them. Lots were tiny and only useful for animal fodder but some massive ones had found homes in discarded trays of soil and were fighting to grow through them!
