Stone balls
These are stone balls found in Festival Square on Lothian Road, Edinburgh. They are a monumental tribute to ancient balls,
commissioned by the Edinburgh International
Conference Centre. Many Scottish museums feature showcases of intriguing carved stone balls, found essentially only in Scotland and usually attributed to Neolithic times. A variety of suggestions for
their original function are advanced, including standard weights, mace heads, bolae, gaming pieces, divination accessories, spools, dance
instructions, currency etc
