Everything has a purpose (2)

Up in the woods on the mountain side (Cori) the air is much cooler and
this lovely old bitch is resting on an ancient, moss lined chestnut stump.

The local council is using  the mountain as an open refuge for abandoned dogs. The are fed, vaccinated and micro-chipped and freely available for adoption. She was alone so the others must have been.
 rescued already.

These woods are very well kept, with logging done on a rotation system. Pigs and cows are free to roam freely, eating acorns and chestnuts and generally clearing the undergrowth.
 It can be quite shocking to have a close encounter with a huge sow and piglets.

The extra shots are of the spot where we stopped to have an awesome cool break and a shot of cattle, whos used to be white but who are gradually turning brown, thanks to the brown bull.
