Perigine Falcon at Malham Cove

Began the days walk by returning to the site at the top of Malham Cove where
the Perigine Falcon family were nesting. There was no site of the
youngsters but one of the parents was resting on the ledge. Took a
number of shots using my optical and digital zoom, for a fixed lens
camera I was really pleased with the results. So here he or maybe she
is, can one tell the difference?
After this excitement we walked on past the Malham Tarn and took the
Monks Road to Cowside Beck, once again the grassland was carpeted in
wild flowers, orchids, yellow violas, butterworts and primulas. We descended into the picturesque village of Arncliffe for a pub lunch. The path out of Arncliffe over to Kettlewell was long and steep, we left the limestone and walked through the heathery landscape of the millstone grit, the sun shone briefly and the scenery was spectacular. We made it down into Kettlewell with just 10 minutes to spare, to catch the bus to Ilkley!!
This evening I had the pleasure of meeting PaulFS, whose journal I have long been a fan of, his wonderful images are accompanied by very witty write ups, we walked
around the Cow and Calf rocks then went for a drink at the pub of the same name. A very special ending to a lovely day, thank you earthdreamer for sharing this wonderful landscape with me!
