A Sad Business

Long ago I tried to watch the whole of a football match
during the World Cup. I attempted to care
whether England won or not.

I usually hope they'll get kicked out early (and they do)
so that the fuss will die down.
Although it doesn't die down.
(Not sure why?)

I didn't even last until half time.
What I saw was a load of bad sports
who would do any foul thing to win.
Sometimes the ref saw, sometimes he didn't.

Isn't it often referred to as The Beautiful Game?

Oh yes, and I did (just the once) put my foot
through the TV
when the theme tune for Match of the Day
came on.

Never mind.
Soon be The Olympics.
