Flexible, open, social

Glutton for punishment that I am, I'm currently participating in an online course called FOS, which stands for flexible, open and social. The course is being run entirely on social media (WordPress, Google+ and Twitter ) over a five day period from Monday to Friday this week. The course is aimed mainly at professionals in higher education who teach or support learning.

Each evening there is a 'Twitter Shower' between 8.00 and 9.00 where participants can post questions and / or respond to answers using the hash tag #foschat. It's a new experience for me and takes a bit of getting used to but it's actually good fun. However, it's very hard to stay on top of everything as I discovered this evening when I sat down at 8.00 to take part in the twitter shower. I made one post and the doorbell went and by the time I got back to it it was almost 9.00.

Still, the whole idea of a course like this is that you engage with it as much or as little as you want to.
