Re-modelled Rolleiflex Tie Pin
This is the tie pin that I bought at auction a few weeks ago....I took it into the jeweller to get it re-modelled into a brooch....
I managed to find out quite a bit about it...when it was made and also that it was a one-off piece made especially for someone...
It was made in 1961 and was commissioned by the jeweller who re-modelled it for me..the jewellery maker has long since gone out of business.
They managed to preserve the hallmark and cut off the bars at the back and added them to the front to make a brooch....
I have been looking for a photo of my Father using his Rolleiflex camera but couldn't find one amongst the ones I scanned when I was last at my Mother's house...I know he had one and he often took photos of himself using his cameras...I still hope to find one when I look again at our family photos.
Today is a sad day for me as my Mom had her stroke exactly a year ago today and it still feels quite unreal....I remember getting a phone call from my brother at around 11am to say that she had been found at home at around 10am slumped in a chair unable to speak or move....
My extra photo today is one of her in her younger days when they lived in Malta...she looks very happy in it....
