The Kid

This juvenile Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) was having quite a time negotiating his flight patterns.  He was obviously new to the concept and there didn't seem to be a parent in the area to assist.  He kept banging into things and then he's straighten himself out and adopt a regal pose which he'd maintain for a few minutes before taking off again in a random direction and flopping down on a branch,.  He got points for persistence because he just kept trying.  My daughter (KeepLifeSimple), who hereafter shall be known as Bird Girl, identified him without effort.  She's clearly been spending time with someone who knows birds.
