WIDE ANGLE WEDNESDAY
Surely this must qualify for Wide Angle Wednesday?
And if not, then so be it - but it is Mr. HCB’s first cucumber and I wanted to blip it for him! He is so faithful in looking after the plants both in the garden and the greenhouse, in fact, sometimes, when I go out into the greenhouse, I can’t see him because everything has grown so much - I think I might lose him out there one day - but he always seems to know when it is time for a meal!
Actually, it made me think of life and how very often we expect to reap rewards from something we do or from a relationship when we haven’t put anything into it. If we want to get the best out of a hobby or a relationship, whether with family or friends, then we have to invest in it - and make sure that we nurture it, work at it and also enjoy it.
Friendships certainly don’t happen on their own - it takes effort and commitment to make something work - and time too. For many people, especially if they work, time is very precious and it can sometimes seem too much of an effort to enjoy a hobby or to spend time with family or meet up with friends. I am really grateful that I can do all those things now that I have retired. For those of you who are wondering how you will fill your days if you retire, it won’t be difficult, believe me - both Mr. HCB and I wonder how we ever found time to go to work!
It’s also very important to have “me” time - and if you follow my journal, you will know that Mr. HCB has his in the garden, and going to watch cricket - even as I type, he is watching at Cheltenham and will be there for the next four days. I will be meeting up with friends, doing some colouring, looking for blips, writing my journal and I might even do some housework! Life is exciting - and we need to live each day to the full.
Starting today,
I need to forget what’s gone,
appreciate what still remains
and
look forward to
what’s coming next.
P.S. Just looked and seen that the subject for Wide Angle Wednesday is “People” - well, if Mr. HCB had been here, he would have been in it, but as he’s not, you just have to imagine him standing holding this cucumber!!
