Shallow Water

I saw a kingfisher at the river this morning but it was just a lightning fast flash of that astonishing blue, flying along just above the water. Far too fast to photograph. I hung around where I could see little trout playing and snapping at insects, but the birds are smarter than I am and kept a low profile, or more probably sat laughing at me for giving up and going and taking a photo of this waterlily instead.
