Thyme
Not the wild mountain variety (shades of a folk song) but Silver Posie a variety of Thymus vulgaris. This is one of the Alpines we planted last summer and it has done incredibly well. From a tiny plant in a 3 inch pot it has spread to cover over a square foot and is in danger of crowding out the Lewisia.
It is an absolute sea of the Lavender flowers each spike being about three quarters of an inch long. Not only has it proved good for flowers when there are no flowers the foliage is a variegated silver grey. Like most (all?) Thymes it is also edible.
As you might guess from the write up and picture rather lacking in inspiration at the moment.
