Longhorn day

A brief visit to the nature reserve this afternoon produced lots of insect photos, but the stars were certainly 'longhorns'. This is a tiny (6-7mm) longhorn beetle, Alosterna tabacicolor, which can be found visiting flowers in woodland clearings and rides at this time of year. The extra photo is of a longhorn moth, Nemophora metallica, visiting Field Scabious. It beats the beetle easily on antennae length and is probably has a more local distribution, restricted to chalk areas.
