Is there room on top?

I took the boys for walks this afternoon - two walks - one each.
The wheat field was full of these little red insects - they were everywhere.
So many in fact that these two had to piggy back as evidently there wasn't enough space on the wheat for them all. 
I think that they are "common red soldier beetles".
