The Bigger Picture

Last week I blipped one of the rhododendron's two blooms; in truth, because it has performed so poorly over the years, I wasn't optimistic about any further blooms opening fully. However, last year I took its life in my hands and pruned ... probably a bit gently ... for the first time and it seems to have liked it! Really pleased with this blaze of colour, but still think I should be a bit more brutal with the pruning this year. Any advice? (I've googled and shoogled the info. but personal experience is always a better source of advice)
