World Day Against Child Labour
Today is World Day Against Child Labour. It is estimated that 3.14 million children in Nepal today are engaged in child labour. CWIN is committed to taking a human rights and social justice approach to ending child labour. Members of CWIN attended the ILO conference on World Day Against Child Labour and raised awareness in the city. CWIN encourage people to be alert to instances of child labour, report them and help ensure every child has the right to be a child.
It's been a week since I arrived in Kathmandu and I'm beginning to feel a bit more settled thanks to my lovely boss Sumnima (far left) and Pooja (middle). Laura (research officer, second from the right) arrived back from attending her graduation from the University of Sydney. She received a distinction in her Masters in Human Rights. To celebrate we went to Pooja's husbands new restaurant Falcha (traditional Nepalese cuisine for this area of Kathmandu) which is opening in Sanepa. Jenny (far right) is working alongside me in the CAFAAG project and will take me Nepalese singing and dancing at some point....can't wait. The wee cute one is Pooja's niece.
