Happy Birthday, Papa
It's the 95th birthday of my dad, "Papa" Bob Witten, born July 16, 1920. He was one of a kind, I'll say that. The Depression shaped him, it really did. But he settled into a new life in Oregon, and bought into the American Dream of chasing whatever you could wring out of America. Pops loved his golf, which I think is particularly ironic at this time. Somewhere, I have a photo of him on the Swilcan Bridge at St. Andrews taken sometime in the 1990s, good old Dad playing the 18th hole at St. Andrews in Scotland. Perfect timing with the British Open this week played at the same course. Thanks, Pops, for the lessons in work, and golf, and love. Happy 95th!
