Beamaris : Gallows Point

This scene has been on my mind for a while. It's taken from the end of Castle Street, opposite the house where one of my Dad's sisters lived. Looking across the bay to Gallows Point, which is the headland to the right in the middle distance.

During the 1970s & 1980s a family friend had a pontoon on which oversized caravans were floated across the Menai Straits between the mainland and Anglesey. Why you ask? Well, the arches on the Menai Suspension Bridge are solid stone and the roadway quite narrow and the A55 road deck on the Britannia Bridge had not been built.

On the skyline to the right is part of the University of Wales Bangor where I spent 18 years as student and employee. Happy Days :-)

EDIT 13th June : the tower on the skyline is actually Penrhyn Castle as correctly identified by Truewhitewings. Sincere apologies for misleading you all.
