Viper!

I went over to Arran on a viper venture and found two (maybe three) where I'd found adders before- off the path up Glen Rosa that leads to Goat Fell. It was pretty hot and sultry and both snakes were catching some rays. I also got some nice landsacpe shots but will upload them to flickr when I return to Orkney. Birds seen included a dipper, crossbill, three spotted flycatchers (one of which was an adult feeding a fledgling, a merlin mobbing a buzzard, lots of whinchats and, from the return ferry trip, about one hundred manx shearwaters; more than I've seen together before.
