Towards the Sea

18.0C starting with heavy rain which cleared mid to late morning. Dry with some cloud through the afternoon. Moderate breeze. Gale forecast for overnight.

The Open Championship at St Andrews was delayed by over three hours by the rain. There was a lot of flooding which had to be cleared and allowed to drain. Play started at 10am ... and I sat down to watch.

Maeve the Deerhound and I went for a walk after lunch. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. Just by the church near the turn for the bridle path we stopped and I got this shot over the field looking down towards the sea. We went further along and turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road. We came back along the cycle path and went down to the car park at Westhaven via the road bridge over the railway. The tide was coming in. Valhalla A, Shamara II, and a smaller boat were moored close to shore in the relative shelter of some rocks. The sea looked fairly rough out beyond the rocks.

We came back over the road bridge over the railway then carried on round in a long loop heading into Carnoustie and up the main road before turning along for home.

Maeve went out into her garden later in the afternoon.
