HIGH STREET....

.... today!!

You may recall in my "Back When" series on 1st July showed a shot of High Street here in Penrith in 1963, and promised to show how it is "today"!

Well here we are fast forward to 2015 and not a lot really in Architecture has changed, maybe modernised and I have moved back up the road a bit as the tree growing in the Church ground affected the same angle as taken "back when"!

The fish & chip shop is now a real estate agent, and on the top corner the Australia Arms Hotel was built originally in 1874 and then totally rebuilt in 1940. The history is here if you would like to read about.

The real original "Arms of Australia Inn" I have Blip back on 23rd February.

Just a bit more of our area's history, and just to "back date" todays pic have a look in extra. The sky was interesting, whilst I left my timing till late today (Saturday here) so there was minimal traffic, with the really cold weather at present the clouds showed why all the snow up in the Blue Mountains as shown by our Blackheath blip mates.
