Flat tire on the moor
We drove from Akureyri to Reykjavík today (about 400 km/250 miles).
I hate long-distance driving.
On Holtavörðuheiði moor we heard a "boom" - we had a tire blowout to deal with!
Luckily we had everything we needed in the car with us and the weather was fine so replacing the tire was not much of a hassle.
It's been 17 years since something like this happened to us, but back then it happened on an icy-cold evening in February, somewhere in Hvalfjörður (before the tunnel opened).
We stopped in Borgarnes for a swim and kjötsúpa, then we arrived in Reykjavík later in the evening and had coffee at my brother Bjössi's house before going to bed in Hjarðarhagi just before midnight.
