City Streets

Yesterday the weather was wild, yet today dawned clear and beautiful.  I was up early and the dogs had a ball chasing after all the scents held in the wet soil.  
Yesterday I went to a NGO function in one of the townships and ended up feeling really despondent.  Why is it that so many people believe they are being useful when they simply do handouts to others?  To my mind it simply increases the ego of the giver while pushing those being "helped" further down into victim status.  Half the time the giver never checks what the other needs and the other is expected to be grateful.  I wish I knew how one could harness the energy and funds of these do-gooders and put them into a worthwhile project which actually empowers people. But that was yesterday.  Today has dawned full of new hope.
