Fast lane home ...
For once our drive from Gloucestershire to Joppa really was a smooth, quick and incident free one! ( legally fast too!)
We were very sorry for those heading south as a totally deserted southbound M6 does not augur well. An overnight lorry fire had melted the road and a military style operation of Tarmac re-laying vehicles meant two to three hour delays as three lanes of English school holiday traffic tried to filter into a single track diversionary route.
As we crossed the Scottish border it began to rain. When we reached Biggar the sun had come out.
The wind is gusting as I write and has wrought some damage on our garden which is still waiting for proper summer to arrive!
