Almost over the hill

We had a couple of guests for lunch today. There was supposed to be another couple plus a toddler and a baby too, but unfortunately the mum had been poorly for a day or so, so they couldn't make it.
Even if I do say so myself, it was a scrummy meal, and we ate outside as it was such a glorious day.
After they had left we took the boys for a walk up the hills overlooking our village, which is where I took this shot of the ripening oil seed rape crop. There were some lovely clouds about too.
Our son flew today from Taiwan to Istanbul, and then he will catch another flight to Kiev where he'll be for the next week on business. With all of the trouble that they've had out there in the Ukraine recently, it is a worry, but what can you do? You can't sit in a cocoon for the rest of your life. When he gets to Istanbul that will be the closest we get to him since last February and probably till at least next February.
It was our elder grandson's graduation at school yesterday, i.e. the transition from nursery to primary. We miss so much being this far away, but at least they will send us some photos, and he showed us his outfit that he would be wearing when we Skyped on Friday, so at least we do feel involved.
