How my dad felt..

As a teenager when my dad came home from a long days work every now and then he would say something about some new efficiency program  Computers were just coming in and management were going to put them to good use. As a letter carrier an important part of his job was to get mail to the right person. Well computers said he could do his job in a certain amount of time. Didn't matter if it was Wednesday when the ads came out or Christmas when volumes spiked. A certain amount in a certain time or they would threaten to write him up. 

For the last few months I have had a manager just like that. The computer says. I would go 20 years of experience says... Today though it just got to me. I admit 75% of the time the computer is right but it doesn't allow for a 45 minute lunch even though that job will still be on time. Its 15 minutes that could be used on the next job. It doesn't adjust for traffic, weather, and...

I then found out the company has 127 excuses to be late. No they wouldn't share the list. I did find out though if a dog eats my paperwork they won't accept that...
