Phew!

After driving for 9 and a half hours, our cabin on the cross channel ferry from Caen to Portsmouth was so welcome.  Good trip - no hold ups but the time was still an hour more than Google/The AA quoted.

There were a couple of boats going through the lock at Ouistreham while we were there but did I think of taking a photo?  The other thing we noted was that non-English Europeans don't take H&S half as seriously as we do.  While the lock was filling a respectable, middle aged, middle class French couple were walking over the "pedestrians not permitted" lock bridge and touching the lock mechanism.
