Bee first aid
Yes another bee pic today but a slightly different story. Spent the day doing some housework that I've been putting off including ironing stuff so I've got something to wear when I go back to work tomorrow.
Consequently had not had time to think about a blip so headed out into the garden. It has not been very warm here again today and has been overcast for most of it. The sun put in an appearance at around 7 o'clock and the bees were out doing some late foraging.
Found this bee and was bit concerned because it was barely moving. Wondered if it was sick but decided to try a bit of first aid by dropping small quantities of sugared water near the bee. Wasn't at all sure that it was the right thing to do but couldn't just leave it there. Gradually I noticed that the bee's abdomen was beginning to move and that it was obviously feeding on the water. Afetr about 5 minutes it began to walk around the flower until, finally, it took off and flew into the sunshine.
Was it the right thing to do? Well maybe or maybe not but it sure was amazing to watch.
