Who was lamenting the lack of bullfinches around her wildlife sanctuary garden! I was surprised, since we get besieged by them every winter; usually 7 or 8 feeding at a time.

Saturday, this guy was chasing any male opposition from the walls. Sunday I saw him through the window, perched on the barbecue. But when I tried to sneak out with the camera, I disturbed his harem (at least 2 females) among the clematis!

Only one female this evening, but she wouldn't stick around to pose and quickly hid in the jungle foliage behind the goal...

And apologies for the slight blur - shot through the kitchen window with one hand while I stirred dinner with the other!
