One species each day (from my backyard)
This is a wig from the crincum crancum tree (as the kids called it) between us and the neighbours. It's probably the biggest tree in our (shared) backyard. I've always thought it to be a native tree, but J. T. Salmon doesn't mention it in his complete book of New Zealand Native Trees, so I had to look somewhere else. I first found in the National Pest Accord List as Euonymus japonicus. It's not clear if it was planted here intentionally or if it is self-seeded. But the children loved it and so does the jasmine that uses it for support to get some sunlight.
