Lapwing
After work I went to Lackford Lakes but it was hot and very windy and the Damselflies, Dragonflies and Butterflies were not settling on the vegetation so no photographs! I went into three of the hides on the site but the only birdlife were Moorhens, from the fourth one I saw a Seagull, Little Egret and this Lapwing. The water in this pond had almost dried out due to all the dry and hot weather we have had recently and the three birds were getting meagre pickings! Apparently water can be diverted from the local river and this will be happening in the next day or so.
The Lapwing was quite a way from me so it's not the best of captures as I had to use the upper end of the zoom.
A local name for this bird is the Peewit, after the call they make, my reference book says the call is 'a wheezy pee-weet'.
