Ain't no sunshine where we've gone

Felt quite sad to leave sunny and picturesque La Fortuna (blipped) this morning, we've spent four nights there and felt like we were beginning to know people and places. My mood then just got worse and worse as we approached gloomy and grey San José. We arrived at a bus terminal which is apparently in the red light district, so only option was to get a taxi, who then charged us $48 for the trip, when we had only paid $5 for the 5 hour bus journey we'd just done! I demanded to know why it was so much and said we couldn't give him more than $40 and stood my ground, but felt shaky, angry and disappointed.
Anyway we are now in one of the nicest hostels yet, recovering on our bunk which has a view to the free form pool....
