Richard Godfrey at Rufford

A few hours escape for us yesterday and a chance to visit the commemorative Richard Godfrey exhibition at Rufford.  It's hard to believe that Richards inspiration comes from the natural landscape.  There are several lovely clips on his blog where he talks about his inspiration and how his work develops.  Richard Godfrey (1949 - 2014).

A sad day for Rufford too - this is the last exhibition that will be displayed in the gallery as Nottingham Council (under pressure from government cuts) has axed funding for the gallery.  A triple blow for the gallery coordinator as not only has she lost her job but as also lost the additional funding for her business and now has to pay the `spare bedroom tax'.  (She has made plans for a new career, but these are mean times.  How come we, as a country, have allowed these multi-millionaires to take over our lives and make cuts that affect ordinary people while they keep all the privileges that their own money can buy!)

Mum had a tired but better day and my sister came to stay during the middle of the day, which freed us for a trip out.  An early night to try and catch up on sleep for us, though I did re-awake at around 10.30pm to check on how she was.  Then she awoke at 3.30am.  She's asleep now.  (I think I had a brief spell when I slept some more!)
