Celebration time!
It has taken about eleven years since we started, but Phase One of our church's roof restoration project is now complete. The final bits of snagging were sorted by our contractors a couple of weeks ago; the plasterers and painters were in last week to tidy-up the patches on the walls that needed work, and the place on Sunday was looking and smelling as fresh as a daisy on a spring morning.
A service of thanksgiving and celebration for everyone involved, and there have been many over the years, is being arranged for Sunday 30th August.
Meanwhile, one of the conditions of the grant funding we received from Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Funding (our church building dates from the mid-17th century) is that we open it to the public for so many hours in addition to our public worship on a Sunday morning. To that end, we're open on Sunday afternoons from 2pm - 5pm during July, August and September (with a couple of exceptions).
I was one of the volunteers on duty on Sunday afternoon and took a few photos of the church interior while it was still looking pristine.
Of course the place only becomes a church when there are people inside worshipping, but it would not be appropriate to take photos at these times.
