The name suggest howling winds at the summit, but it was calm and still apart from hundreds of cyclists on time trials.
I have total admiration for these Lycra wearing cycling folk undertaking this ride (it was hard enough to drive)  but there is part of me that thinks they might just be a little mad as well!

Three weeks of temps over 35 - Thank goodness for Air Con!
The temperature at the summit was a cool 21 degrees - we all enjoyed a brief spell of sensible weather.
