Sales
Went to a networking / business advice event this evening at the Open Space meeting rooms north of Malvern (from which one of the art'y murals is the blip).
We had two good talks by Stuart Allen, a sales trainer to major corporations. One talk was on using twitter for business; something I may well experiment more with. The other talk was on sales technique.
Two things were reassuring about the second talk. One was that the cheery patronising approach of the classic double glazed boiler insurance seller is not the way professionals are now (well, should be) trained to sell; and the second was that our approach of listening to customer requirements before honestly presenting a tailored solution is exactly the way to go.
Actually, we've been doing it that way simply because it seemed like common sense.
