How to catapult a tree

A training day with the National Tree Seed Project, organised by Kew Botanic Gardens. We learnt how to identify the collecting sites, assess seed quality etc and how to collect seeds from the whole tree canopy - here we used a catapult to send a weight and line into the upper branches, with a tarpaulin to catch the falling fruits.
